Game Design & Systems
Game design decisions that survive contact with production.
I help teams frame mechanics, progression and player-facing systems before complexity becomes expensive.
What this service covers
Game design support can begin with a loose concept, a feature already in production or a live experience that no longer communicates its value clearly. The work focuses on the relationship between player behavior, product goals and the scope a team can realistically deliver.
- Core loops, mechanics and interaction rules.
- Progression, pacing, metagame and reward structures.
- Feature prioritization and pre-production documentation.
- Retention and monetization framing that protects player trust.
- Level and mission structure, difficulty and onboarding.
How I work
I start by identifying the player promise and the decisions the game asks the audience to make. From there, I map the loop, locate uncertainty or friction, compare alternatives and turn the chosen direction into testable rules, flows or prototype requirements. Technical constraints are considered early because a good design is one the team can build, evaluate and maintain.
Useful outputs
Depending on the stage, the deliverable can include system maps, mechanic specifications, progression tables, economy framing, annotated flows, feature priorities, level briefs or prototype plans. Documentation stays connected to observable player behavior rather than becoming an abstract design archive.
Relevant experience
My background includes metagame and UI work on Parchis Teams and Jalsat Ludo, systems and story integration on Freeport, gameplay mechanics across mobile titles, level design and independent prototypes. The Shadow Strike aiming case study shows how camera, precision and stealth fantasy can be treated as one design problem.
